- Capacity Building
Using trained presenters for our traveling Workshops on Wheels programs limits the number of
classrooms we can serve. By transitioning these programs to Historic Treasure Chests,
significantly more classrooms can be accommodated in the schedule.
This transition will include:
- Acquiring appropriate wooden containers which will become the Treasure Chests to
store and transport program materials to the classrooms
- Developing technology driven materials for whole class and independent student use
- Purchasing and developing extensive exhibit materials for multiple classroom use
- Working with educators to asses their curriculum needs in developing new topics
- Replicating materials to accommodate a quantity of Historic Treasure Chests
- Creation of Technology Rich Classrooms for Presentations
The Children's Cultural Center proposes to retrofit historic classrooms
(in the historic Richboro School) to be utilized as a technology based Center for Education.
These classrooms will contain state of the art technology for "in-house" presentations of
local history programs as field trips.
This will extend the opportunities for classroom teachers to have access to programming which
are not suitable for a typical Historic Treasure Chest.
Equipment for these classrooms will include:
- video and sound equipment for production
- Projection equipment for a variety of delivery methods (i.e. video tape, CD's, DVD's, etc.)
- hide-away projection screens
- touch screen monitors for interactive learning
- Creation of Cultural Quilt Series
Our young people are emerging from high school into a global society,
requiring knowledge and understanding of a variety of cultures.
The Children's Cultural Center will research and develop curriculum based programs featuring
cultures 'outside our borders'. These programs will be developed with both traveling and in-house versions to optimize use.
Included in these programs will be such sub-topics as customs, language, education, government,
maps, travelogue presentations, artifacts, exhibits, music, toys, and games.
